There have been severaly discussions that I have seen within topics concerning bypassing the egr valve and im curious about a few things.

1. With cars that have no third cat what changes in emissions will this cause?
2. What options are out there for folks who do not/can't get computer re-programming?
3. Is there any way to bypass it and not trigger a SES light?

It's something that im looking at doing but need a better background. I searched and didn't find anything of substance unless it was tucked away in another thread.

2x? Do I really? Well, if I am poor and you are twice as poor, you must be living in your SHO and hitting the net from the public library

Of course I sit on my a$$. I'm a farmer. An a$$ farmer. I sit around on my fat a$$ and cultivate a$$ cells.

Who wants to answer your questions? You can drive 30 minutes and get anything you need help with done. People would **** to be in that situation.

I have to work on telephone issues now....office is crippled with no incoming lines!

There is no way to eliminate the EGR and not set off the light that I know of without a tuner or chip. And if they actually sniff the car it will fail emissions. It will raise the NOx level too high.

A tuner can do this and give you the ability to flash back to stock for those pesky emissions test.

What that guy said X2.

On the V6 , no gains there , its for exhaust pollution only.

How is the EGR dealt with physically? Do you just plug it, or route it somewhere?

If im not mistaken :

Its a valve controlled by the EEC that is hardwared to the exhaust manifold. Basicly opens up when needed to allow air to pass through , and go in the exhaust to help burn non-burned air-gas mixtures , in the cats (red-hot ceramic) .

Like a formely 'Air pump'.

Im missing something cose the EGR canister is there for a reason , but i cant recall the 'why'

other way around.....

it sucks from the exhaust manifold back into the intake..... helps lower CC temps.

There are gains to be had if you want to keep the intake cool. It will hurt gas mileage a bit to eliminate it, or so I've read. Mine has been blocked off for the last 4 years.

But if you had a flasher and if you had to deal with emissions testing. It can be left in place as is and just turned off in the tune. Then reflash if you need to go in for the testing. Same thing with the SAI.

I don't think so. Hard to tell when I'm using the go pedal so much. But it has been suggested for those long run highway drive it can hurt mileage a bit if it is disabled.
