I'm trying to do some trouble shooting on my 93 MTX. Can I swap the EEC from a 91 into my 93?

they should work but it is a different PCM. the 92 uses an XJ2 where the 91 uses a LOS or a B9B1

What's the difference between the X2J and the other 2 EEC's besides year? Are they interchangeable without any reprogramming?

Yes, they're interchangeable.

The difference is the hardware in the EEC, which has a "better", faster processor and associated electronics in the X2J. The functionality is essentially the same, and they are plug compatible and interchangeable.

I was able to figure out what was wrong. One of the pins on the harness had actually opened up and was no longer making contact with the pin on the PCM.

Pulled out the wire from the PCM, crimped the connector on the wire, put it back together and no more CE light.
