Thanks for all the information, I’ll leave it be until I buy a programmer. I’m not concerned about not having the factory tune, it only has an aftermarket powertrain warranty and they never check that even when an adjuster comes out to confirm the needed repairs.

How often do these front diff’s grenade, mine definitely howling very loud?

I’m just trying to determine if it’s been tuned.

Let me check to see if I can find anything with the S/W code or strategy code in the system. When people send the tune request forms in, the forms don't ask for the VIN. The previous customer could also have put the CAI on and left it stock.

I checked with the strategy code and it's a popular code with the 2014 SHO's. The only way we would be able to figure out if it was tuned through us prior is if you were able to find the previous owners name. If you can't find the previous owners name, even though the dealer should have it, then you would have to try and get a stock read with a tuner and that would be the only other way to know.

Ok, no way to really determine if it’s been tuned. I appreciate all the input though, thank you.

Thank you for looking into that for me. I will be ordering a tuner w/tune in the next couple of months, now I’m really looking forward to it.

That would most likely be your PTU begging for a fluid change. Poor design leaves you with very little fluid that gets cooked by the cat. I’d make that a top priority before it lets go.

@bcf4696 have you considered pulling one of the spark plugs to see what it is. If it’s one step colder or the type that would normally come in a Livernois package then that might give you a better idea.

Also once you get your tuner device, even before you flash anything just watch the boost value. If it maintains 13+ psi at WOT then you’re definitely tuned.

We use factory Motorcraft spark plugs so even if the previous owner had one of our packages installed, the spark plugs wouldn't be able to tell him. The only way he would be able to tell is when he goes to flash a tune on to the vehicle.

Another reason why I think it is tuned is the poor low speed driveability. The converter locks up almost immediately after shifting into the next gear resulting in a terrible chugging. It certainly doesn’t feel as though it has stock transmission software. I’ve never driven another one so maybe they’re all like this, but I tend to think not.
