The EATC on 97' started acting up yesterday. When I came out to start my car after work, the air started blowing like I left my air on. I thought that was weird since I never do that. Once the car started, the air stopped blowing. When I got home and turned the car off, the defrost kept going even though I didn't have the defrost on at any point on the trip home. This morning the same thing happened. I have to start the car and turn it off again to make it stop blowing air. Any ideas as to what is on its way out? Thanks.

Mine was doing something similar, eventually it got worse, now the blower motor runs wide open whenever the ignition is in the "on" position (meaning it never stops blowing hot air), when I attempted to track down the problem, found that there was a lack of power to the "brains", just went to the salvage yard yesterday, and pulled another eatc (football) unit, replaced the one that was faulty, and that took care of the problem (cost less than $30). Another thing to check might be the blower motor resistor (although I think they call it something else), I'm told it can cause the same issue (I priced this part & it was in the $130 range, don't remember the exact amount).

I haven't tried the eatc test yet. Ill try and find the test procedure and try it tomorrow. I have an extra football that I can throw in too if it gets worse.
