E brake light comes on when I take off in first???

My e-brake light comes on when I take off in first and sometimes in second. Is this a serious problem? Any info would be appreciated.

Check the level of your brake fluid.

If your fluid is good, then check your ebrake pedal. Mine lost a little rubber bumper from the top of it that makes contact with the switch for the light. It now goes on evertime I hit a bump.
