I spent just over 3 hours tonight swapping my hard button EATC down to where the stock radio goes. In it's place, I've installed a Clarion VRX-755VD unit with a 7" motorized touchscreen. The entire process was not my idea of fun, but I am very pleased with he outcome. It was well worth the hassle! :thumb:

The only thing I have left to do is modify the EATC so that it fits properly in the DIN. I will fill the lower DIN with a storage compartment. Any ideas on how to get the EATC to fit snug within the DIN? I already know that the plastic on the sides will need cutting. I plan on using a dremel to get the job done. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

On to the pictures... After taking these it made me realize more and more how badly I need to replace the steering wheel or at least get a wheel skin, it sticks out like a sore thumb!

Clarion unit installed in EATC's place! Above that is the ****** Solo S2 Cordless Radar/Laser Detector which has saved my a$$ many times over! You can also see the protruding EATC hooked up in the DIN:

Hooked up! :dribble:

I plan on swapping the faceplates to the newer style Lincoln EATC:

Thanks for looking everyone. Sorry, but my SHO's interior isn't usually this dirty. This is my first time I've ever done something like this, and I couldn't wait any longer to show this to the SHO community. Comments and suggestions are encouraged! :thumb:

Looks pretty decent man! Did you upgrade all the components too, or just the HU?

Better buy an alarm for that 152k mile beast... the HU & PS2 are worth more than the car! :nut:

EDIT: To fit the EATC in the DIN you need to shave the four U's on the sides, where the screws normally support the EATC up above. Ends up fitting nice and snug in the DIN, without popping out.

Ohhh yea, might as well make what I'm about to say worth THREE times the car!

I've installed 3-Way 6.5" Infiniti Kappas in the fronts and Pioneer 6x9"s in the rear. In the trunk, I have 2 12" MTX Road Thunder subs enclsed in a custom box with a 400 Watt Elemental Designs Amp pumping juice to them. This car has been more than a dream come true for me

Next stop... Circuit City for an alarm!

Dave,

How did you go abouting "shaving" the U's on the side of the EATC? Would a dremel be sufficient in doing so?

Yep, I bought the "heavy-duty" carbon saw bits for my dremel (the 25k RPM corded one).

Turns the plastic into liquid shrapnel... I've been burned my fair share of times :thumb:

Interesting...personally, I'd feel a bit apprehensive knowing my mega bucks radio is now higher up and in more clear view than before, easy for thieves to get at. I'd rather have it hidden below where it's more inconspicuous.

But if you like it, that's all that counts!

I agree with what you are saying. But I'm not about to have a $1,000 unit stolen from underneath me. Three things... My windows are tinted very dark and it's extremely hard to see what's inside even in broad daylight. The Clarion's touchscreen is motorized which allows it to be enclosed within the unit. Also, it has a detachable face plate to prevent such a thing from happening. Lastly, I really am never that far from my car (work or my apt. mostly). With the alarm system I'm about to have installed, I will have a pager that will go off and notify me if anything was to happen.

Sounds like you thought of everything!

I can't wait to tint my windows, I think the SHO looks sharp with tinted windows... but Ohio only allows so much tinting.

Unfortunately, the same thing goes here in NY. I've got stopped twice and had to pay nearly $200 in fines. When one of the officers asked if I knew that the tint was illegal, I said yes. Why did I get them tinted then he asked. I said because it's sexy and the ladies like it LOL :naughty:
