So I am doing an RWD SHO motor install and was wondering if anyone has done a dry sump on this motor. I have some clearance issues and this would solve them. Crossmember and steering rod. Just looking for some info. Didn't see anything after looking, so I thought I would ask.
Thanks Steve

I couldn't find anything either, I think its better just to move the cross member than trying to make an expensive dry sump work, its too risky. I don't think anyone has successfully completed one. This may not be your setup but moving the cross member is better.

if your the guy doing the Datsun one, I found a few things, not sure of your model and year but it will give you an idea about customizing the subframe.

Post a picture of your cross member and subframe but I think you can make a RWD swap without modifying the SHO oil pan.

Maybe can cut the pan and move the sump to the front. I would mount the motor side of pan to some thick steel. [don't want it to twist] then make the bottom pan to suit. The oil pump inlet is on the harmonic balance end. There is a tube from it to screen pickup. I had to modify mine and cross member for mine to fit the car. Maybe these pictures will help. I plan on adding a punch out on the side opposite the starter side to make up for oil I lost in cutting out section of pan. Maurice

Thanks for the posts. After doing more research the dry sump would not be that easy. I am sure it can be done but it would add more difficulty to my build.
I am the guy who is doing the 510, looks like my best option is to modify the oil pan and move the cross member. But have clearance issues for the intake at the cowling. Plus the steering would still be a problem. I am almost at the point of ditching the SHO motor and going with an SR. Not sure if I want to cut this thing up to make it fit.
But I do have a 68 Opel Rallye Kadette that might work better with the SHO motor. I have the drive train worked out. Aerostar bell, adapter plate to a 94 mustang T5. I am using the stock SHO clutch fork and TB with a custom mount that attaches to the collar of the T5 input shaft. I contacted Centerforce clutch and they made me a custom clutch disc using an SHO disc with a mustang hub and a stock pressure plate. I wanted this motor to just drop in but I guess its never that easy.
