So, I've noticed this ever since I've had my car... it's never bothered me, and I've never thought of it as indicative of a problem, but I guess I'm curious as to why it happens:

Let's say I'm driving enthusiastically (and if I'm driving, I'm driving enthusiastically) and I have the EATC blowing warm air through the vents. Whenever I brake hard, the heat 'goes away' and gives me a shot of significantly cooler air, which endures until I'm off the brakes again.

Please someone tell me that this happens to them. Then tell me why.

In a sadistic sort of way, I love driving a SHO because things crop up all the time that you'd certainly never see in another car. It's like a mystery movie playing out on my way to work :p

Your blend door is swinging forward as you decelerate blocking the air from flowing through the heater core. I think replacing the BDA will fix the problem.
