Hello all I have another new problem all resulting from my experience with Econolube and i need some help....Here's the problem. While driving to work Sat. all seemed fine then while shifting into 3rd i had nothing. Checked 4th still nothing actually i had nothing in any gear. engine runs fine now after i fixed all the problems that they had created. Now i have no tranny. I checked the shift linkage and all is hooked up ok. What i have found is that the shaft from the tranny to the passenger side half shaft (which Econolube replaced)was sticking out of the tranny case by 3 inches. i removed the passenger tire and also found that the shaft had slipped down out of the holder completely. So my question is how could this have happened and how can i fix it permantly. I got the shaft back into the tranny and i can drive it locally but i need a more permant fix.
How can i check the size of the halfshaft to make sure that they put the right one in (the one for a SHO and not just a taurus)
Any help would be appreciated.

This sounds like a case of maintenance malpractice. They owe you any costs incurred and a serious apology for incompetent service.

The CV halfshaft replacement should not have affected the halfshaft from the transaxle to the carrier bearing on the passenger side. The CV shaft just slides and snaps into the large receiver on the outboard side of the carrier bearing. There is a snap ring that helps to secure the CV shaft into the carrier.

They apparently removed the carrier bearing mounting bolts and pulled the halfshaft from the transaxle. This was entirely not necessary. The halfshaft has a snap ring that holds it into the differential and the carrier bearing should also retain the shaft. My experience with this service is at the Forum topic at the link below.

The CV shaft on the passenger side can be had for $59.99 as the remanufactured A1 Cardone 60-2034. An excerpt from the post linked above, "I am now able to disassemble the suspension and remove the driver side axle in as little as 15 minutes. It took only another 15 minutes to reassemble and properly torque the lower control arm (ball joint) (18mm, 40-55 lb-ft), tie rod end (18 or 19mm, 25-35 lb-ft), sway bar link (18mm, 35-48 lb-ft), hub nut (30mm, 180-200 lb-ft), ABS sensor (10mm, 40-60 lb-in), brake caliper locator pins (Torx 40 (for Gen I), 18-25 lb-ft) and lug nuts (80-105 lb-ft)."

You will need only a 30mm axle nut socket and a torque wrench capable of the 180-200 lb-ft as special tools for this otherwise straightforward job, but then, Econolube owes you a job done right.
