My driver door makes this "creak" sound whenever I open it. Also, it won't lock in the 1/2 way position. It should hold in that position like the passenger door. I'm sure the mechanisms in the door are shot. It's a 94. What need to be done to repair it? :salute:

Purportedly (-2 sp), you can remove the pin in the lower door-hinge and replace the hard-rubber roller - but you're going to have to remove the entire door. Dorman sells/sold a replacement pin/roller kit.

You might find it easier to simply replace the entire door hinge; or get a used door hinge at a salvage yard, replace the pin/roller in the spare hinge, and then remove and replace only the lower hinge.

you can also squirt some grease into both hinge assemblies and the roller assembly with a grease gun; that's what I did when mine started to creak, and it hasn't creaked since.

But the reason the door fails to stay open, is that the hard-rubber roller on the lower hinge deteriorates over time and one or more depressions/flat spots form, which prevents the hinge from working correctly.

If the door will not remain open, the either the roller or the hinge assembly itself need to be changed.

I ran across the Dorman kit last night on RockAuto's website - Dorman part number 38350.

Look under the category [+] Body Exterior, subcategory [+] Door Hinge Roller

I have seen the Dorman/MotorMite kit available in-store at AutoZone and Advance Auto, it's on Murray's/Parts America's website, and probably also available at O'Reilly's and others as well.
