Hey all I'm back and got a quick one for ya. As we all know the 89-95 SHO's come with a rather crappy Ford JBL stereo combo. Most have the tape and cd player combo in the dash. These are setup in 2 seperate Single Din openings. What I want to know is if I carefully cut the plastic seperator out from between them would I be able to stick an aftermarket Double Din head unit in there. I know I should check rear clearances to make sure it seats right. I would probably have to use the old plastic seperator on top to make it snug. Want to make the interior more organized and modern. Going with all new MOMO gear(Pedals, Steering wheel, Mats, Heel plates, Shifter, Boot, Seats, etc...). Living in Italy has it's advantages. LOL!
I'm looking at the Kenwood Excelon DDX7015 6.5" DVD/MP3/WMA receiver. I had the KVT-715DVD in my Mercedes 2.5-16v and I loved it. I'm looking to go almost SHOw with my "NEW" 91 plus. Full list O' mods on the way very soon.

I have been wondering the same. I recently posted a like question on the Taurus Car Club forum and never really got a good answer. Supposedly someone put a late model Ford Focus head unit into a Gen I/II SHO and it fit reasonably well. I think next week I'm going to a local u-pull it junk yard and try swapping head units around. If you can wait till then I'll give you a definitive answer.

I've been looking into doing a fiberglass enclosure for a like a 6.5in tv down there. I think if I can get it in black it'd look really good and smooth.

Great idea. If you do one and you like it and you'd be willing to do another I'd gladly pay you for it. You should probably angle the screen upwards at the bottom a wee bit. The stock radio location is terribly low. It also sucks for installing a single din head unit with retractable screen.

I'm not going to be making it, I've made some contacts at a local car electronics/custom install place.
