I replaced the plastic striker bushings that had all fallen off with new ones I machined from MDS-filled nylon. It got rid of all the sqeeking and creaking I used to going over any bump or ripple in the pavement. The solid "thunk" is back when I shut the door. It's mostly psychological, but the car feels solid once again. A cheap fix that makes a big improvement. thumb

wanna have some more made up? I'm interested in some for my 94. One of my rear ones looks to have been chewed up pretty bad, and I'd love to replace it with something that will quiet it down a bit.

It's really cheap and easy to buy the new striker from an auto parts store. You can find them in the HELP section with the blister packed parts.

I replied days ago, but for some reason my post didn't make it on the forum. I'd make more, but I don't want to get into the bushing business especially since I have no idea as to their longevity.

Be aware that there are two Ford-specific striker posts. The one that fits the (SHO) Taurus is the post with the finer threads. They are about $6-$8. Check that "Help" section for other, hard to find parts.
