door ajar

Hi all I am new here. I have a 95 mtx. My problem is when all the doors are closed the doorajar light stays on. the doom light goes out but the little red light on the dash never goes out. I have replaced all door switchs and I still have this problem. Not sure were else to look. Any help?

Even though you replaced all your switches, try spraying WD-40 into the switch, then slam the door a few times, do this to all four doors. Instead of WD-40 you can use electrical contact cleaner.

For me though, nothing worked, I used WD-40, contact cleaner, carb cleaner, simple green degreaser, and sticking Q-tips into the switch to try and break free the switch, nothing worked. Eventually I pulled the little bulb and its not been on since

well does your auto lock work even though the light was still on?

Hmmm... autolock? My cars never had autolock... or I just dont know what autolock is...

I could be wrong, but I think only the ATXs had autolock.

pull the door panels and unplug the single connector going to the latch...this will shut your light off.

the door ajar switch is in the latch itself, so from what you stated before you replaced the wrong switch

I just wanted to tell everyone thankyou for the help. And the autolock work one both the mtx and the atx this is my second mtx sho and my first one lock the doors leaving for r to 1 and the locked. Thanks again, btw what does this switch look like that I need to unpluge?

when you get the panel off, you can see that there are 2 or 3 sets of wires, 1 of them will only be one wire with a connector on it, just pull that off and tie it back so the window doesnt get it when you roll it down.

i know that this wire is for the door ajar light because: my passenger door lock was sticking sometimes unlocked, sometimes locked (not allowing you to open the door). i found that the latch assembly was jamming up with the help of the power lock actuator. so i found a taurus GL at my local j/y with power looks and grabbed it. i noticed while installing that it was missing a section, and had no where for this one wire to connect, so i tried and sure enough all works except for that dash light (it stays off full time...only regarding that door, works on all others)

I think the door ajar light was std. on the SHO's and opt. on the rest (L-GL-LX)

whats autolock?!

I don't got it on my ATX...

Yep autolock was only on the ATX SHO's. You have to program it to automatically lock the doors from your keyless entry pad. I believe it locks the doors when you put the car in reverse AND only when you are sitting in the driver's seat.
