does trunk use diff key

I'm not sure where would be the best place to post this question but here it is. Does the trunk and the trunk lock mechanism inside the car use a different key than the door locks. I just bought my car and pressed the lock feature on the trunk release mechanism inside the car but neither of the two keys (ignition or doors) will open the trunk. Should there be a third key just for the trunk locks. Secondly, can the dealer provide me with the right key by Vin # or am I going to have to call a Locksmith?

You should have the same key for the doors and the ignition. The trunk, trunk pop lock and glove box are on a seperate key. It's kind of a valet key situation, you give the valet guy your ignition key and all he can do is open the doors and start it, that's if you have lock the glove box and trunk pop lock.

TWRSHO is right about the valet key deal. To answer your other question, The dealer can provide you with the right key by Vin #, but you'll also have to SHO a valid registration slip for the car when you pick it up.

Otherwise, we could just call in a key for any ol' car we see and take her for a spin. burn_out

I know on my SHO with the keyless entry number pad on the door if i type in the number to unlock the driver door then i press 5 it pops the trunk you may wanna try that if 5 doesn't werk try the other 4 buttons

Don't have keyless entry, but it's a relief to know that the dealer can get me the key. Thanks a lot guys.
