Does anyone use Torque on their phone for data logging?

I have been using the application for a while to check and clear fault codes on my vehicles, and recently started using it to data log and get a better sense of how my car is performing on a day-to-day basis.

I have noticed my coolant temp hovers right around 181* with an Evenflo 160* Thermostat. I am wondering if this is a normal temperature for this t-stat and it would normally run warmer with a stock one? Or should I be purchasing a new one being this one could be going bad?

Thanks!

Sounds about right, 175-180 with the cold TStat. I assume you have a tune on? The tune will run fans earlier and longer. Coz if you think about it, the colder TStat by itself only gives you an initial advantage. The fans give you the longterm advantage.

Can your program the fans to just come on at an earlier temp, and run longer? I am coming over for HP tuners and you can do that with most vehicles.

Fans can be adjusted. When I was running the 160, I had them set my fans to stock because I didn't like the noise of the fans running for normal street driving. However, I also had a "race" tune where the fans ran earlier and longer....or maybe even constantly. That was helpful for cooling but it does put more load on the alternator resulting in a slight bit more load on the engine.

Thank you very much.

Thanks for the information everyone. I'm running the car on a Livernois 91 tune at the moment, but it was giving me the same temps on the stock tune as well.

I don't typical log or spend much time analyzing this but even on the dumb factory gauge I can see the temps stay a little lower with the 160 and associated tune than stock.
