1st off i have 2 clogged cats and am running lean atm. a mercury sable with the 3.0 duratec 2003 kept up with me and i won by a nose. i used to roast stock 5.0s and v6s. seems like this car should be faster. would cats and it running a little lean cause it to be slow. i almost wanna get rid of it for almost loosing to a sable. throw me some input on ur thoughts thank u.

I agree The cats are not only restricting the exhaust flow but the o2 sensers are getting a false reading because of all the backed up exhaust gases. The Y pipes are not cheap and I don't blame you for not wanting to blow the money on just a guess. How did you come to the conclution that your cats are pluged come to think of it?

In all honesty dude, even with your car fixed and running under normal conditions you'll still barely pull away from a Sable or anything else with a Duratec. Gen 3 SHOs (or any N/A SHO) aren't fast, face the fact or sell the car.

i used to roast allover 99_04 v6 stangs and old stock 5.0s all day. a v6 mustang has bout 190 hp and the sable with all its miles is pushin like 190hp. why would ford make a duratec faster than a mustang 6 cyl

Southbridge, MA? Get that pile up to NESHO in Spencer. We'll have you fixed up and wasting Sonatas in no time.

Bob, lets not go that far. Elantras maybe, Sonatas? I don't know.

Jamie, let's race

99-04 V6 Mustangs probably put down 150-160whp on a good day. They're not fast.

Wait I figured out the problem........

Its v8Sho put a rocket behind it and it will still be slow:rofl:

On a serious not if your cats are plugged it will cause issues. How's your gas mileage?

If your cats are plugged up, it will cost you quite a bit of power.

+1, how do you know your cats are bad? IIRC, they aren't a wear item, and don't usually need replacing unless something's wrong with the engine that cooks them in the first place.

Stuff your nose and mouth full of marshmallows and let us know how well you're able to breathe.

Mmm... marshmallows...

Sounds like we should play "Chubby Bunny" at next year's convention.
