Disable Key Pad

Well tuesday at school my ipod was stolen out of my sho. I am positive I had my doors locked. So today when I left my car I made sure that all the doors were locked. Well then I got out of school and went to my car. my smokes and Cd's were gone. the only person who knows the code is my bro but he has some shady friends and I have a feeling one of these friends of his are using the keypad to get in. I ethier want to totally delete the stock code or just disable the keyless entry all together what is the best way to do this!?

Find the RKEM module mounted on the back of the trunk. It'll have the keypad number on a sticker on it, and two large connectors. Unplug those.

No more keyless entry.

Sorry about your shit being taken, but I saw a website that detailed how to change the default code inside of the keyless entry module. Lemme look for it here, hold on.

You can also change the code if you want. If you have the owner's manual, it should have the instructions. I've done a search on here before and found them also.

actually just kidding... there used to be a way to solder resistors onto the keyless entry module and change the code itself. Want to trade boxes?

I'll take my RKEM module apart when I get back this weekend and take pics to show you how. There are 5 resistors that set the factory code. The site that had the instructions is 404'd.

Any code you ADD will only be in addition to the factory code. You cannot disable or change the factory code except by futzing with the box itself.

Swapping RKEMs and not telling your brother what the new code is would be viable alternative.

I just had mine apart and these resistors are no longer present just a big 'ol ROM chip... I'm sure that has the code on it

Yup. I had it wrong about changing the code; it only allows you to add new ones. That kinda sucks. Oh well.

Your problem can be solved with a small T-Ball bat. Think Joe Pecsi, then talk to your brother.

Yeah, '93 and up had an updated module (that lets you use keyfobs) and you can't change the default code. You can set new codes, but the stock default code will always be there.

Best solution - new module from the junkyard. SLOs with the keypad have the same module. Don't get a pre '93 one, the plugs are not compatible.

In the interim, unplug the module, or stop leaving valuables in your car. People will bust windows for an iPod too, you're lucky they knew the code.

When I was student teaching the Ford rep that talked to my Auto Tech class flashed everyone my door pad #'s. It was some fancy Ford program that they can use to look at the newer cars. This was on my 99.

I promptly unhooked it until I was done teaching there.
