Neither of my directionals are working. I did not check the rear but the two front ones are not working. I do not think it is the bulbs, when i move the directional switch neither lights light up on the dash in either direction. But if i move the switch slowly up for the right one to work there is a position where the directional works but obviously the directional switch will not stay in that position. Anyone got a clue? I'm thinking i need a new directional switch.

Did you check your blinker fluid? JK It may be the flasher itself. I am not sure what it look like but its up above the fuse panel somewhere. But the first thing you should do when there is a electrical problem is to check all the fuses and make sure they are all good.

If the lights come on and don't flash, it's the flasher. Otherwise, it's likely the multifunction switch.

The lights dont come on outside the car or on the dash. The windshield wipers work with the switch, but for some reason i think that the swtch needs to be replaced. shrug

Yup. Seems like they fail around the 70-80K mark.

My car was doing the same thing. I changed the flasher and it fixed it. The one I got cost $25. Pry out the dimmer/auto lamp panel and the flaser is mounted behind that. It is a rectangle box. Let me know if you need more info.

Do you guys know how much one those costs?
How difficult do you think it is to do yourself?
Thanks hail
They're about $30 aftermarket at most auto parts chains. It only takes about 30-45 minutes to replace -- very straightforward. Someone did a good writeup on it either here on the forum or over at SHO Times, give both a search for the procedure.

This is an old thread, but I just ran into a (another) misleading notation in the Factory shop-manual that caused me a couple of days of concern and may help others: My directionals, too, stopped working, and the first reaction was to check the fuse. The manual shows fuse No. 1 as controlling the turn-signals. No. 1 fuse looked good so I bought a new flasher. Still no turn-signals, although everything else on the multi-switch, headlights, and the emergency flashers worked. Prior to tearing into the column, I went back to the book to make sure I had read it right the first time. Turns out the flasher unit is separately fused (as "electronic flasher"), and controlled by fuse No. 5 ! A new 15-amp fuse and I'm back in business.
