I just got my car back from the shop after having the steering rack replaced (2015, non-PP.) Now this warning shows up on the dash upon startup. I'm wondering if this could be due to the shop failing to calibrate the lane keeping system after installing the new rack, or something similar.

If not, what are my next steps? Is this something I might be able to troubleshoot on my own, or am I looking at another expensive repair?

My first move would be to call the shop that replaced the rack.

When a Ford electric steering rack is replaced the following must be done.

Using a capable scan tool, such as Ford's IDS, the EPAS rack must have a PMI Programmable Module Installation programming performed with either As-Built Data or a download of the previous module's configuration data. The PSCM should be tested to confirm that there are no DTCS.

Then if that is successful, the 4 wheel alignment needs to be performed followed by an IPMA camera alignment, which is for the lane keeping system. The IPMA camera is located on the windshield near the rear view mirror area. Even when installing a new windshield, this is required.

There is also a steering angle sensor calibration on some models, which is done with a scan tool.

If this message in the IPC message center still appears, then there is possibly another issue. This should set code(s) if it still has an issue.

Hope this is helpful.
