difference in a/c lines?

so my dad bought lines that were used and they're r12 and i didnt realize that till i bought the O-ring kit for a 94. I tried to put the o-rings where the lines meet the a/c compressor and the o-ring is too big did i get the wrong kit or are the lines different?

the lines are different. you will want to make sure you get all the oil out of the R12 lines, because R12 oil is not compatible with R134a. and, the R134a will leak out of the R12 seals/hoses easier, so expect to have to recharge more often.

the right thing to do is to get R134a lines. If you have to use the R12 lines, you will need to get the fitting adapters and I strongly recommend that you use the retrofit refrigerant rather than standard R134a - that will reduce the risk of seizing up the system due to oil incompatibility.

i have 2 r12 lines and a new accumulator and condenser in r134a
