Do those prices include the cost of R&R the transaxle to do this service, or is that the cost for just the work on the differential?

zach, doug is good enough that i've driven down from michigan more than once to have him work his magic. i used to call him so much that they'd see a 269 area code and simply answer "hi tim". you really couldn't do better. he's not gonna screw you over.

from my understanding the roll pins get sheered by the diff pin because the bearings seize due to lack of ****. I don't know what his solution is to that but lubing the bearings do sound like a solid solution. I always wondered how oil gets to a part the spins in such a way that it would fling off the oil from important parts.

My advice, save your $500, swap in the other trans, and stop burning out. Never blown a diff in my life, and this is with a good deal of trips to the strip, some road racing, lots of spirited street driving, etc. At worst, buy a stock diff ( I got a low mile one in my garage), and weld it yourself. On $120 week, you gotta make your money stretch. Spending over a months salary to 'fix' a trans on an old Taurus is not something I would do.

I'ver never blown a diff either. If you have limited $ you need a driving style to reflect that.

You now, those guys are right.

The reason I don't take my car to the drag strip is because at the moment, I can't afford to fix it if it breaks.

My first trans lasted 180K miles and I gave it a lot of ****! This trans will probably last a LOOONG time.

If you're only making $125 a week like you said, you should be happy to even drive. If I made $125 a week, I think a moped would be in my future..............
