Well, today I was hot rodding around w/ a few friends in my 90(very stupid I know). I stomped on it around the corner reving to 7000, tires spinning though, I was only going like 20 mph. then there was another corner, so I took it sharp purposely to have more tire spin. Well in the process the tires lost traction, I tried to turn the wheel but nothing happened. So I step on the brakes but to no avail,I hit a curb. The car is now half way up on the curb. Thank god there was no oil pan and front fasica damage. the only thing that happened was that a chunk of my stock gen. 1 basket weave flew off :( . which let all the air out of my tires. My questions are- does anyone have a spare basket weave they are willing to part with? I know many of you have non-stock rims. I doubt a local junk yard would have any but I am going to check it out tomorrow anyways(going to look for a mark 8 maf thumbs_u ). I feel really bad for treating my baby like that :( . I hope she get fixed soon. thanks guys!

Basketweeves came on Many years of tauruses and sables. They are a dime a dozen...you should be able to get them from the junk yard cheapola. wink

Geez, if I posted here every time I did something stupid, I'd crash the server. :(

Seriously, the basket weaves are cheap and plentiful, any medium to large junkyard should have one for about $25 including a decent tire. That's what I paid for one at the place I go to.

If your '90 SHO has the original factory wheels on it, they are SPECIFIC TO THE 1990 SHO ONLY! The plentiful SLO basketweaves will match the '89 SHO wheel, but NOT the '90 SHO wheel!

You should still be able to find a replacement, but not nearly as easy!

Hopefully, you've learned your lesson about driving like a MANIAC, before somebody gets hurt.

Good Luck!

WRONG...the only diffence is the centercap...the 90 SHO basketweaves have a center that says SHO on them...where as the 89 SHO and SLO weaves have a plain centercap. That beaing said...just keep your SHO centercap of the broken rim wink

qiksho, WRONG!!!

The '89 SHO & SLO basketweaves are MACHINED finish with clearcoat. The '90 SHO SPECIFIC wheel is PAINTED SILVER!! If you've ever looked at an original '90 SHO wheel up-close like I have, you'd know the difference!

On another note, you hit that curb pretty hard you sure you did screw anything up suspension wise? Make sure that the wheel you hit didn't get pushed up into the well. If it is any closer to the rear of the tire well then the other side is, you bent the control arm and possibly screwed some other things up. If its pulling when you drive at all don't put this off thinking its the spare, check it out man and be more careful :D

first of all, quick 91 sho is right they are different. I went to get a basket weave off of a slo and the slo's space for the lug nut was way farther up than mine, i think due to mine being wider not sure though. Most importantly though, I feel that pull and I also found that when I turn the wheel to the left it will stop like normal. but when I turn it to the right it will keep on going( the wheel just ends up rubbing the fender well) Am I in big trouble? thanks everyone! i really owe you guys.

I stand corrected. The rims are the same size it is just that the have some cover that goes over the lug nuts. Found plenty of them at the junk yard and am going to get it tommorow. I went to check the tires and you're right one tire is farther back(meaning something is bent) How much do you guys think this mistake is going to cost me? Can I use the front control arms off of a slo? Just a thought. thanks everyone
:)

now that you know you bent something the next queastion is WHAT??? as far as a lower control arm i would not get a used one at all becuase the ball joint is an integral part of it. if thats all thats bent go to a parts house or check some of the sites in here. there are guys all around ion here that will give you an idea of the best place to go for the control arm
