Did I get ripped off?

I took the SHO into the shop yesterday to get the front end aligned. On my bill it had a charge of $20.00 to cut the pinch welds???...

Where would a pinch weld be that would concern the alignment???..

Or are they trying to pull a fast one?

Lift up the black plastic caps that are on the strut towers in the engine compartment. Those are the spot welds usually broken to set camber. Camber (looking at your car from the front) is the wheel's tendency to slant in towards the top of the car like this: /===\

A shop that would break those welds is pretty decent since usually they need to be told to do it or they won't.

Gotcha, I've never looked under the caps...

Thats exactly what they did. I guess they did their job....(but $20 to cut the welds??) I should have done it before I took it up there....Oh well.. thumbs_u

well, how much did they charge you for the alignment, before they tacked 20 bucks on? At sears auto centers (NTB included), breaking the welds is part of your normal $60. alignment. I mean, I think it's ludicrous that they'd charge you more money to to the frickin front camber and caster adjustment, the only thing they can set without breaking those welds is toe.
