Did I definitely fry my clutch?

I was merging onto the highway and I let 3rd gear go to about 5k RPM. I went to shift into 4th but I think I hit 2nd and didn't rev match like usually do. The clutch pedal instantly became soft and I couldn't get the car into gear. I crawled off the nearest exit, shut the car off and was able to put the car into gear (with a lot of effort) and drive it home. The idle is at the same RPM, but is slightly rougher, and the shifter is extremely hard to get into gear.

I am familiar with this situation and think I blew off most of my PP fingers. Does anyone think my mtx is damaged? My diff is intact and I realize I may have damaged a synchro, but once engaged the car will move fine.

I am very lucky to have all the parts downstairs awaiting installation.

You probably broke a strap on the PP. Time to drop the tranny hun.

P.S. As for damage, the strap could have dug a little into the bell housing side of the tranny, but usually (unless it's driven on a good bit afterward) it doesn't cause any problems.

Sounds like it's just time for a new clutch. Usually when you downshift and miss the gear and over rev the car, you'll just end up destroying the PP. The internals should be ok. You planning on putting the new clutch in soon?

Thanks for the input...I have all the parts downstairs and ready to go: 9 puck Fibertuff, HD PP, ceramic TOB, reground stock flywheel, teflon TOB fork bushings, new TOB fork, rear main seal, crank carrier gasket, fluids and nuts and bolts. It was driven for 5 minutes after this happened, and won't move until I start the replacement tomorrow afternoon.

I would like to get a hold of Chris (SHO--ripper) to help me out, but I think he's still on vacation.
