Some of you guys might remeber when I thought my tranny went out but it was actually a bad PP but this time I am going to listen to you guys. So since I put in my new clutch I have been taking it very easy on my car. I have 450 miles on the clutch and today I was driving in first than I tried to shift into second, driving very easily mind you, and it doesn't go. I try to find any gear but when I tried to put it into neuatral or first it just felt all wobbly like the tranny was empty or something was disconnected. Is this how it's supposed to feel when you tranny gives out? When I rolled my car to the side of the road I thought the car was in neautral because the shifter was all wobbly but when I realeased the clutch the car stalled out, so was it still in gear right?? Do you think the rod shifter is to blame, maybe the mechanics didn't hook something up right, because I haven't even taken my SHO past 3k rpm since the new clutch and rod bearings so I don't think I broke anything? Any help would be nice because this is my daily driver and I need back on the road by Monday. Thanks again

sure sounds like the shifter broke. Usually when the tranny is the cause of those symptoms, it makes a noise like a muffled .375 for accompaniment.

It shouldn't be too hard to fix. I'm an ATX guy so I can't give you specific details, but others sure can.

So can I fix the shifter myself or would I have to buy a new rod shifter assembly? I don't have access to too many tools so I guess I'll push her to the mechanics tomorrow and I guess they can just weld together whatever broke or would it be safer to buy a whole new assmebly?

If cable shifter, there have been at least two very good posts in the last couple of weeks about the fix...

No it's a rod shifter and I am pretty sure that I will get whatever broke welded back up. I don't know I hate wasting my money taking it to some mechanic who likes my wallet more than my car. So should I just by a new rod shifter or can they be welded back together safely and hold up for a while?
