94 mtx 143k on the car, motor has 72k installed 13 months ago only 3k miles put on it since then, Last week driving home late at night on the highway all alone i decided i wanted to open it up and see how she would perform. I was doing 50 on the freeway droped it into 3rd and mashed the pedal. Rpms screamed upwards motor sounded perfect. but the car hardly accelerated. it was like when you step on the gas but you still have your foot on the clutch halfway. tonight I decided to take the car out and see what happens. I did a few things, tried to spin the wheels from a dead stop. all the wheels did was alittle chirp. usually they would spin like mad. also when accelerating the same thing happens motor screams, rpms go up madly. but the car hardly accelerates. I am having no trouble at all shifting, shifts are very smooth. any help is appreciated.
current mods are. SSCAI,73mmMaf,BBB,P&P runners,SS catless Y, Dynomax exhaust, TB eprom burned for mods.
Thanks in advance

sounds like a weak pressure plate or possibly oil or some sort of contamination on the disc

Flickering oil light could be the oil pressure sending unit or the rod bearings heading south. Try the sending unit first. I had the same problem with mine. I was told the rod bearings, but it was only the sending unit. So I did both just to be safe.

Agreed, sounds like the clutch is glazed. Time for a new one. If your out spinning your tires, you gonna need a trans soon as well! If your poor, get your diff reinforced. If you want the best, get the Quaife.

Oil pressure sending unit : $6
Rod bearings & oil pan seals : $100

Used, unknown condition MTX4 trans: $300-$600
