Well, after a Prestone Superflush and a 10x fill Radiator, run 10 min and drain followed by 1 distilled water fill and flush, I was finally able to say I was ready for ORANGE. She now sports the GM DexCool Ext life antifreeze and I hopefully wont have to touch the system till my car has the same miles as SDPATT's.

I can see right away that She runs alot cooler than the green stuff. Probably not due to any amazing property of Dexcool, but rather because I used the superflush for 6 hours as recommended to clean up any crap in the system. Now When On the highway, I run at about the A or L position and if left to idle for 1/2 hour I might reach the R.

I did have a small leak on the driver's side bottom which I thought was the weak link Scott mentioned on the SHO radiator, but it seems to have stopped. We shall see what becomes of that. But at 5.29 a gallon, I dont like the idea of replacing a radiator, or even a hose.

Besides....I hate flushing these things.

I was just going to drain my coolant at work this eve, run a bunch of water through it then fill it back up. Would you recommend using a specific flush additive?

Dissolves rust and corrosion (supposed to) from inside the cooling system so it can be flushed out.

I'm running it through mine right now. Needs another 4 hours or so....

Just my luck, it will dissolve whatever is holding the whole thing together..

LOL thumbs_u

Well, I didn't do a flush this eve. I just replaced the water pump last winter and flushed the system then so I didn't think that was my problem. What WAS my problem was a 13 year old ECT sensor that decided it didn't need to talk to anything anymore, specifically the electric fan which I realized today wasn't coming on...hence it runs cool while moving, but warms up at a stop.

$18.00 for the sensor, 5 minutes to install, now it runs AL while driving, and close to the R at idle thumbs_u
