My 19 year old son and I went to Detroit this weekend for the North America International Auto Show. All I can say is Ford had the most impressive display I’ve ever seen. The new Fusion was on display as well as the more powerful Mustang GT500 (they actually did a dyno run on the stage).
Of course the new SHO was there. To be honest, I really liked the new grill, but hated the new wheels. In person they look like something that would be on a KIA. The interior has a few changes, but overall nothing that would make me trade the 2010 SHO or my two Mustangs for. I have to hand it to Ford, when it comes to Ecoboost, they are committed. Ford had a Ecoboost tear down area. The engines were the 3.5 twin turbo from the F-150 that had been run in durability testing. These were engines that they take apart, and then put back together throughout the show. I was very impressed with the lack of wear and tear on the components. Also, the tech doing the work was showing everyone how robust the parts and design are.
As for the show overall, 92,000 people came the first day. Good news for car guys.
