how many people from the Des Moines area go to downtown at night (I'm guessing not many of you do) when all those cars or w/e drive around? My friend has a 3000GT (the base model - so it sucks bad) and keeps telling me i should go down there (which i finally did a few weeks ago), but i think he wants me to race. Street racing just seems a little stupid to me though, but it would be interesting to go downtown and drive around with a bunch of other SHO's, have all the SHO's in a pack and hog the road :)

I'm not in Des Moines much...

Street racing in the city isn't smart...

hehe, I don't find street racing very appealing because it is awefully risky and dangerous, but then of course most any kind of racing is.

I agree with you on street racing. It is pretty stupid. I just don't say too much on the subject since I have done in the past.

I've been down a couple times with a buddy who also happens to drive a 3000GT, but not for a couple of summers. I haven't raced down there despite my buddy prodding me to do so. I figure they are going to do it whether I think it's safe or not, so I may as well watch.

Sounds good. I won't be going down any time soon. One, it's winter and I'm not real familiar with their scheduling for that stuff, and two, I'm at school in Decorah, so I won't be in Des Moines until this summer. If I do plan on going I'll shoot you a PM.

There is a difference between racing to the speed limit and street racing, I do NOT street race nor would I want to. I Have however raced to the speed limit off of a light, this is still dangerous but smoking ******** high school punks in their weed wacker motor :rice: Hon-Duuuuuuuuuuuuuh :snicker: Turd-boxes is just fun when they go "Was that a Taurus with V8 decals that just beat me?" most just ask how I made a V6 Taurus sound like a V8 or say "Duh, whats a sho?" :slap:. It's laughtastic.

lol "Hon-duuuuuuuuh!" I like that :p

I don't mind people racing to the speed limit either, or even going to 90 or so on a really empty street with a lot of room, but the people who choose to got 110-120 down a busy highway, or weave in and out of traffic on a busy city street, that just seems really stupid to me (ex: I saw a Ford F-150 and Dodge Ram racing down 235 the other day, i speed up to see how fast they were going as they went by, I got up to 90 before slowing back down and they still blew past me even as i was going about 85-87. Not smart (for any of us, cuz going above 70 aint a real good idea on that road), especially at 3:30 in the afternoon

There is nothing bad about streetracing except it's against the law. I mean just race long enough to prove your point. NO SENSE what so ever going 120 down a road that there could be kids on or grandma's driving, people die going 55 (head on) let alone 120<. It is fun though to just get on it and prove your point. thats all i ever do. I just prove that my car is slower or faster thats it.
