Don't know about the rest of you, but I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up my Rod Bearings in the mail the other day. I ordered them from RCM (std size), go to the P.O. to pick them up and the postal man brings out this box. I stand there for about a minute, and ask him where the rest of the packages are? He says thats it. A little confused, I leave the P.O. get into the car, and tear into the box. I would've never thought that those things were so TINY!!! :omg: From the pics I saw other people post, I'd swear they were much bigger. In fact, I nearly brought a crate with me to lug them out of there. Go figure. Sorry guys, but prior to the taurii I've owned, my knowledge of cars was limited to make, and model. That's it. The only "hands-on" work I've experienced has been on the sho, so all the credit for all my current mechanical skills/knowledge goes to the SHO.

All the parts are in order, but I read some where here that I'll have to reuse/make a gasket for one of the components in the pan? Just can't seem to find where I read it. I got the pan gaskets, and pickup pump tube gasket. What else do I need? Also to make everything easier, I plan to have an exhaust shop remove the y-pipe bolts, and put in new ones, but do I have to provide the bolts? If so, anyone know the specific part number for these bolts and if I can order them? As always, thanks guys! Your the best :thumb:

the rod bearings, main bearings, cam bearings, and complete set of head bolts for my small block Chevy arrived in a 6"x6"x6" box :thumb:

seeing as you bought the rod bearing "kit" from RCM, everything you need is there. the gasket commonly made is the oil pump pickup tube gasket.

there are studs in the exhaust manifolds and nuts attaching the y-pipe to the manifold. many northerners swear by PB Blaster. soak the nuts several times throughout a week before digging into it. expect to break a stud(not to put fear in you, just prepare for a worse case scenario).

Be sure not to overtighten the pick up tube studs! I take it you searched and found a write up on how to change the bearings?

I've read the guide at SHOPP several times. Just gotta get together some tools, and my helping hand. I can tear everything down to the exposing the rod caps, after that. . . .

I usually triple up on everything but I might install my rod shifter, Midwest Ypipe and black interior down in Florida. I might just take the drive down there to do it. My friend has a garage and its his SHO im swaping interior with so, heck might as well do everything else.
