Did a search and nothing. So thought I would ask if anyone uses them and maybe has some information on good ones and what to look for. Also wondering seeing how I have ford pass with sync 3 is it possible to obtain those records from ford on location and speed.

Reason being I was given a bogus speeding ticket buy a Dirty State Trooper today. Was getting on the E way this morning and as I was coming down the on ramp at a normal speed I noticed the State trooper pass me by so as I entered on the the E Way as soon as I got up to speed I set my cruse control at 71 mph. I stay in the right lane as the Trooper is in the left. So about 7 or 8 miles down the road I start to ease by the Trooper doing 71 mph as soon as I passed he immediately turned on the Blue lights and pulled me over.

So the Trooper walks up to me and says I pulled you over for approaching me from behind at 86 mph I have rear radar. I say no sir I had my cruse set at 71 mph you are mistaken. At this point hes attitude started to escalate so I keep my mouth shut. I am most definitely going to get front and rear and if possible side mounted dash cams.

I have a Garmin Dash Cam 55 that's hardwired in (for parking mode). Mine shows time, speed and location if you want. It also has forward collision warning, lane assist warning and red light warning or something. They just released updated cameras (46,56,66 and mini) and the 46 now has voice control like my 55 does (45 does not and it sucked).

Mine:

Also, there is a thread and I'll try to find it. Easily a year old IIRC.

Edit: Reread your post and saw you want front and rear. As I mentioned, Garmin updated their cams recently and now have Bluetooth, so they can record in sync. They have a new mini as well that I'm considering for the wife's ride.

Edit again: Here's the thread I had in mind - https://shoforum.com/index.php?threads/who-uses-dash-cams.135588/

I've used 3 different Amazon dashcams (in different cars). They've all actually been really good, so I wouldn't bother with a name-brand product. Just check reviews. I got cameras without GPS, because I don't want a record of my speed, and I don't know if the GPS speed would help to fight a ticket or not. I do recommend using the audio recording capabilities of the dashcam though.

I've been pulled over probably at least 4 times since I started using dashcams. I haven't received a single ticket. I keep mine visible enough, and I wonder if the cops are deterred by someone who has video.

I've caught a lot of messed up things on video. Accidents, road rage, etc.

Funny thing. After posting Friday night, the next day my wife and I took our two girls to get ice cream and when leaving, a young driver took the corner a little to hot...

After that, we visited a park to burn off the ice cream goodness and on the way home, another driver tried playing bumper tag. I had a gut feeling something was going to happen, hence my lack of swearing.

I swear after getting a dash cam, people started driving better... My reason for getting a dash cam was after a 7 hour drive home, I came around the corner on the highway at 65mph and a GTO and Mustang were stopped on the highway to get a run in. I was inches away from slamming in the back of the GTO and I had the wife and 6 month old daughter with me. Not only did they run, they stopped again... I also drive about 50 miles a day and have caught a few things, but not everything is worth posting. The two above clips, I moved the camera over to the wife's ride because we were going to be driving it all weekend and you never know what you'll see.

As far as racing, I never have anything to show because no one wants to race my grandpa mobile :mecry:

I have a hardwired Thinkware. Been happy with it, it also has motion and bump detection while the car is off and will turn off if the battery gets too low.

I've been curious about the bump/motion detection. I wired mine up to a switched fuse in the fuse box, so it turns on/off with the car. Sometimes I don't drive my car for a few days, and always worried about the battery draining. But I need to install one in my mother-in-law's truck, and she wants the bump detection..

Thankfully I haven't had to test that. The bump detection will be triggered occasionally when I enter and close the door before starting. The camera tells you what events happened when started. The motion seems to work well. You change setting on the memory card while having it in your computer, can can adjust sensitivity and what voltage it shuts down at to save the battery. I have left it for a week or more without a problem.

Go to ford accessories and Id a newer vehicle. Details forthcomming.

It looks like it's an older thinkware camera with thinkware obdii cableing a kit. Nothing spectacular. Bummer.

I had to look. I have the F50 which has been out for a while and roughly the camera offered in the VHL3Z-19G490-C kit, I think I paid $100 with the Thinkware hardwire kit. That PAC piece is $20. My local dealer charges $150 for that kit.

Wow !! Thank You each and everyone of you for all the input. This is just fantastic. However you guys did make it a lot tougher for me to make a decision lol. I went ahead and ordered the Thinkware F800 Pro that Lostneye mentioned it had good reviews. I also ordered the one David Miller has for my truck. I just like the looks of that one. Once again Thank You all for taking time and pointing me in the right direction.

I have a couple of exterior things next week Ceramic Coating and Im gonna have the GPS receiver wrapped hate that dull grey setting on a black roof.

I will have more questions about This map sensor I ordered in a couple of weeks. I should be ready for a tune buy then.
