I found it much easier and cleaner to just replace the entire CV axle rather than rebuild the joint with a new boot. To replace the boot, you still have to remove the CV halfshaft from the hub. If you've gone that far, just pop it out of the transaxle or center shaft and replace it with a new one that includes two new joints and boots. The new CV axles are about $62 (driver side) to $114 (passenger side) from AutoZone or O'Reilly with a lifetime warranty. I have not had to pay for a CV axle for my SHO in hundreds of thousands of miles. The remanufactured versions are even cheaper. To buy a new axle cheaply, but without the convenient lifetime warranty, look at RockAuto, where they are less than $50 each side. Don't waste your time and effort just replacing the boot. If the boot is deteriorated, the joints are certainly worn.
