OK, before I get neck deep into relpacing stuff I thought I would run this by you guys first. My 91 with just over 83k on the odo has started cutting out at around 5 to 6 thousand RPM, almost like I am hitting the rev limiter or something, but its not. It will rev past that smoothly it if is only at partial throttle though. Any chronic fail parts I should check first? It has had a 60k within the last 5k, but I did use non-motorcraft plugs and I didn't replace the wires (I know, I know) but I was doing this on a budget. Everthing else was replaced though. Any ideas?

Might be plugs or wires, but I would suspect weak fuel delivery to be the problem.

If you can, connect a fuel pressure guage so that it can be seen while driving, then take it for a run. If the pressure is low, then you know where to focus efforts.

i had a problem like that on my 94 SHO. it turns out it was the wires going into the ignition module.

I agree with Steve, when did you last replace the fuel filter?

Typically a loss of High RPM power like that comes from a fuel delivery problem.

Well, you guys that guessed fuel problems were correct, at least it looks that way right now. Driving home tonight, the car just died. I pulled to the side of the road, and it would crank, but no start. Waited 15 min, she started right up only die again a few miles down the road. When it dies, the fuel pump sounds funny (real low pitch hum, barely audible) but when it starts back up it sounds normal. This is the same thing the old 91 did when the fuel pump died. So, looks like I have my weekend project planned out for me! Thanks for the help guys.
