Hey guys, idk if there is another thread like this but I bought a 97 with the custom headunit installed in the ashtray area. So for those of you who did this I was wondering how you powered your cigarette lighter. When I pull the center console out there is a lighter there but it is not hooked up. The aftermarket headunit does have a new power run to it from the battery. Can I just split off of that or do I need to run a new power for it? Could I just run power from the fuse box?

I was also looking for the grommet in this vehicle but I have had no luck. I have heard it is near the fuse box but I cannot find it. So if you know where that is that would help me out a lot too because I really don't want to drill through the firewall.

The grommet is there, just may be hard to see. Try looking again. I had to make another power point for my Sirius radio power and I hard wired off the factory cig plug and mounted mine under the dash behind the ashtray area. Depending on what size your wire is, you may be able to run it off that too.

It looks to be 12-14 Guage but I am not positive. Would it be safe to splice off of that for the lighter and radio?
