Tried several seaches with no luck. My steering wheel lights for the cruise are not working. No other lights are out. Are there lamps in the switches? How would I go about replacing or repairing?

The switches from an Explorer do light up, along with others, but the Taurus switches don't light up. I remember many years ago a guy retro'd the switches from an Explorer, but he had to go through a lot of work to do it since there is no illumination wire in the column of the Taurus. You might be able to find a switched 12v and have the lights on whenever the car is on.

I think its more trouble then its worth.

If you want to add lighted buttons and you need the extra wire in the clockspring you will need to order a different clock spring. I ordered a clock spring for a Limited Explorer w/ wheel mounted radio & A/C controls PN: XL2Z-14A664-AA, it was like $25 or so. It bolted right up to the column and fit perfectly. You will have to modify the wiring some though as the airbag connectors are different.

I dunno havent driven a sho in 2 years. Its definitely more trouble then its worth just memorize where the buttons are they arnt hard to find:thumb:

I must have driven Fords for way to long, I have the pattern memorized. Left thumb upper on, right thumb center to set, up to speed up, down to slow down.

Whenever I get into another make I am totally lost on setting the cruise. :oogle:

What year Explorer had the lighted cruise buttons?

Mostly late model versions. Some of the high end models back to the mid '90s had them also. Be forewarned though: this is not a drop in swap, it takes a considerable amount of modding to get it to work including swapping airbags.
