Cruise Control

Another cruise control problem...Is there a dedicated fuse for the cruise?? My horn, blinkers, etc... work, but no cruise. No dash light, nothing. I have looked under the hood, all wires, cables etc... seem to be in good order. Where should I start the troubleshooting?? Will the horn work if the clockspring is bad?

There's two fuses that deal with the CC. One is for the actual operation of the cruise system. The other fused circuit has the speed control amplifier on it. Have you noticed anything else not working in the car?

This topic is good for me, my cruise control doesn't work either - just quit working after a brake booster install. Still have no idea whats happening.

There are several different cruise systems depending on the year and whether the car is an ATX or MTX. Some are all elecronic, the others are electronically controlled but vacuum operated.

You will have to specify which year and tranny you have.

I dont know what he has, but I have a 92, but I also noticed when the wheel is lowered down with the tilt, the left directional wont work, but when i raise the columb back up it does... Does this mean my MF switch is the culprit? (i only posted here because its been idle, and I have the same problem!) Thanks,

Sorry for the delay...Vegas called and requested a no interest loan! wink Anyhow...It is a '93 ATX. I have checked all of the cables/wires in and around the CC module under the hood. Where is the CC fuse? It is not labeled as such on the fuse block. Thanks in advance

Loan, heck! More likely a gift!

First, make sure your horn works.

Then check fuses #1 & #6 in the I/P fusebox.

The check to make sure the connector on the bottom of the brake master cyclinder is not unplugged. If it is secure, unplug it and jumper the two pins, then retest the cruise. If that switch under the MC opens, it will disable the cruise.

The 93 ATX uses an all electronic servo.

The clockspring has three circuits on it: Ground (shared by the horn and the cruise), cruise signaling, and horn activation.

On the later cars, the ones with the electronic servo cruise, there is a brake pressure switch. If this switch fails, (Mind did) the cruise will not work. The switch is under the hood down low on the master cylinder with two wires.
The tech says it's a common problem.
