Scurred the crap outa me last night when I came up on a semi on the interstate after a basketball tournament and the cruise didn't disengage after applying the brakes! The darn 92 just kept on punchin it after I let off the brakes and nearly took me into the back of the semi!

Is there a sensor under the brake pad that has this job that could be bad? Just looking for a fix for this...

If that happens try switching the cruise off, or press the cruise button which lets it coast with no braking or throttle.

Yeah...I know how to do all that, but if my wife or friend borrows the car and doesn't know it as well as I, I want that feature to be there...

Jeez man, that's scary!

I'd pull the fuse so nobody crashes and gets hurt. I know it's a band-aid, but untill you figure it out it keeps your wife safe.

half-way there, I think.
There's a vacuum dump switch that is tied to the brake peddle. Mine was out of adjustment and would allow the cruise to engage. Check that first.

There are two cruise dumps associated with the brake pedal: EEC sees the BOO (Brake On/Off) signal and will dump cruise, the Hail Mary is the vacuum dump valve which should vent the cruise servo to atmosphere, releasing the throttle. There is also an electrical dump switch on the clutch pedal.

I'd start by looking for pinched or mis-routed throttle and cruise control cables to the throttle plate bell crank, then look at the dump switches and valves on the brake and clutch pedals.

If you're worried about safety, disable the cruise by disconnecting the Vehicle Speed Sensor on the transaxle.

Do your Brake lights work?

Does it disengage with the clutch? Check your brake light switch, that turns the cruise off also. Mine wouldn't disengage with the brake, but worked with the clutch. Tried the brakes at night and looked at the lights...saw no glow from them, so the switch was bad. There's the problem.
