cruise control just went out, & i was wondering if anybody knew of any frequent problems,, or just had an idea?

I had the same problem with my cruise poping off all the time. I read your post and went out to the grage with a dremel and cut the open end of the tube down about .5" Now my cruise is not working; did I cut the wrong end of the tube ? did I not cut enough or did I cut to much? Common problem. First thing is to check the cruise control cable on the throttle body. It's right next to the throttle cable. If you pull the throttle by hand you can pop the CC cable back on there. Expect it to pop off again. I tried securing mine with zip ties but that didn't work. The solution is to cut about .5-.75" of the black plastic sleeve material off the cable end. You should see what I mean when you take a look.
Since trimming my sleeve about 4 months ago the cable has stayed put and I've had a perfectly working cruise control.
Trimming the black plastic sleeve solved the same problem my cruise control was having. I also use a small zip tie to secure the end. It's been fine now for many, many miles.shojuan:
