Hey guys, wondering if Im looking into this the right way. 93 ATX, As Im going down the road at 60, I turn the cruise on, hit set, and it works for about 10 seconds then kicks off.

I am thinking its the cruise release switch on the master cylinder. Or it could be the recall harness that was put in under the master cylinder. Has anyone had problems with this, I ve searched and only found 1 or 2 posts with similiar issues. All I read is to check vacuum lines, however I dont see any to begin with.

Yes everything is hooked up correctly on the TB.

Thanks all

Any chance that you haven't had the recall done?

I had the recall done. That was something I was suspecting as well. Why? has there been issues with the little harness. I dont even know what it did, except the fact it was to prevent my car from catching on fire because of a circuit that was constant hot.

Disconnect that switch, repeat process.

If it still kicks off after 10 seconds, it's not the switch. If it doesn't kick off after 10 seconds any more, just leave the damn switch disconnected, and make sure your BOO switch works, because that switch on the MC is your backup (unless you, you know, just shift it into neutral).

the mtx uses vacuum lines on the cruise control. the atx does not. that would explain why you cannot find vacuum lines on your atx cruise.

I agree that one of the switches is opening when it should not. you just have to hunt down which one.

you also could have a problem with the contacts in the steering wheel or at the top of the column, although that is less likely in my experience.

Be aware that if you get frustrated enough to just disconnect the cruise control module and go without cruise control, your horn will not work. Your horn grounds through the CC module. Makes no sense, I know. But it's true. If you do disconnect it, you will have to put a paper clip between the orange and black wires.

I had no problems with the cruise UNTIL I had the recall done on it. Mine works but I set it and it drops about 7-10mph and then screams back up to the set speed. It also takes considerable force on the brake pedal to disengage.
