Look for "OEM" style for the newer cars (+96). They are lightweight steel that is plated and with a lug end. Excellent and cheap. Wally World has them on the card rack.

Walmart up here is quite a bit different. Does not have nearly the comprehensive auto-parts section. And Canadian Tire is awful as well.

I soldered mine with electrical solder from Radio Shack a butane torch, and wrapped the ends with shrink tube.

This is the best connection you can get.

Jose

Yep, that is exactly what I did and the results were pleasing.

I bought the Monster Cable Connections that do not corrode at all and just screw together. Quite easy.

I haven't seen the monster ones.
When I worked at napa we had an expensive terminal crimper the size of bolt cutters. They worked good.
I have used terminal ends that come with a pellet of solder and flux mixed.

What do you mean by lug style? I'm using marine style terminals, but the wingnut on the positive terminal is pretty close to contacting the hood.
These are the ones I'm using now. Someday I'll switch them to something else.

Here is what I was talking about. They are listed as "lead free".

Those lead free terminals came on my cables and the positive got corroded quick. Now I sprayed it with that purple permatex spray.

If you have corrosion then you have a defective battery or it has been overfilled or it is being overcharged.

That is essentially what I am using. I am going to use nylon lock nuts instead of the wingnuts. As this is in the trunk, clearance isn't an issue.

Thanks for the Part #, Paul. If I end up ordering some new struts from RockAuto I will order those as well. EDIT: found them in Canada. Perfect.

All the old cables out of the vehicle and removed the 0AWG cable for the stereo. I picked up some 1AWG welding cable rated at 300amps up to 25ft and some copper lugs.

$$$ though.

I have an Optima Blue Top that suffered damage from the alternator pulley. And then I let it drain over the winter. I am hoping that I can patch up the side and then trickle charge it back to life.

Here's hoping, though.

I have the positive starter wire completely run from the starter solenoid to the back where I installed a Hella switch on the back panel between the tail light and license plate. From there it runs temporarily to the battery. I need to figure out an solution for protection, be it a fuse or a circuit breaker.
