Convention preparation:

have replaced my water pump seal x 2
found out it was the freeze plug behind the water pump, replaced that
replaced my T-stat
replaced my timing belt and my cps
replaced my fuel injectors, ACT, ECT, and cleaned my K&N filter
added my chip
fixed my fog lamps
added my pillar guages
polished: ps pump tensioner, t-stat housing pipe, a few bolts, and gave the car a good rub down polish and wax.
installed my hood strut relocators and new strong arms
washed my liner
supplefied my leather for that lubricious feel
installed my fire extinguisher
had my windows tinted
rolled my fenders some more so it woudnt rub
tightened my nuts.....and bolts. Polished them both.
aligned my headlights
reset my valve cover gasket
replaced 3 cam seals
painted my timing belt cover
cleaned my carpets (previous owner smell ya know)
added a PI badge to the ass end.

So, in a few words: nothing much.

I'm still putting the Other Woman back together. She's going to SVC this morning for some more plumbing work and hopefully (if I can figure out why the computer is not commanding a ground on the fuel pump circuit) she will be on their dyno on Friday. Woohoo!

So not only is his car ready, he's personally prepared as well.

Not real sure what his "leater" is, either, but I probably don't want to know...

Haha, Mike do you ever do ANYTHING!? ;)
In response to Eric's post, sounds like mike cleaned his leatHer, carpets and liner, made sure his nuts were tight and pollished, then got a tatoo? Weird...

Tom, does your PCM get voltage from the ignition when it is supossed to? Plus, I thought you had like 10 extra ones to try out lol. Good luck though. Sounds like you're coming down to the wire!

I've been busting at school for the past few phases in Ford Fact. Got my Valentine1 from FedEx today! I've been wanting one for the last like 5 years! Then I've been looking at Mac, Matco, and Snap On tools as well as gearwrench and brands like that for where I'm going to be spending my money and what I'm getting from each brand upon graduation. Then I got into the Volvo program at school so I'll be staying around here for atleast another 4 months. Graduate UTI/Ford Fact Aug. 3rd, start Volvo Aug. 20 and graduate that on Dec. 3rd. Going home for a week inbetween. Got the week off from work and arranged to work afternoons instead of mornings since I will be going to school in the morning instead of the afternoon. Yaaaa, there is way more too of coarse but thats mainly it haha.

When is everyone leaving for the convention anyways? Who is going?

Here's me thinking that we were going to start up a AZSHO cricket team.

Joe, did you get the concealed display unit? I have a valentine one and if I lost it or it broke I would be ordering a new unit tomorrow, I think it's that good.

Take this bit of advice - nothing compares to snap on screw drivers, combo wrenches and flex sockets, if you dont go this route at the start, you will later on.... oh and tool boxes too... wait till you find one used or damaged in shipping like i did. often the damaged ones won't be that damaged and be close to 50% off:thumb:

Rav, I'm not going to worry about the concealed display. I have it located right under my rearview mirror just under the limo strip. I like it where it is and I can easily see the readings. I tried to see the lights from behind my car but my tint mostly blocks them out. The power cord hanging down in front of my radio and climate control needs to go though. I think I'm going to hardwire it in and run the cord behind the A pillar and under the headliner until I get to the middle where it'll drop straight down to the detector.

Jesse, I have $1,000 worth in Snap-on vouchers when I graduate. We're choosing now. I also get 50% off from Snap-On, Mac, and Matco while attending school. I like the Matco wobbley impacts better than Mac and Snap-on since they don't have a pin inside them. So far, online I priced out a 3/8 wobbley impact 10 piece set, 1/2 wobbley impact 10 piece set, 4 hooks, 4 prybar set, and a 36" prybar all for $530 my price. I think for regular sockets I'll be going with Mac. I haven't decided what I'm going to get from Snap-On. I have like a 26 piece screwdriver set from Craftsman and they will be fine for now. I need a nice plier set, but don't really know where to look. I just bought a 5 piece Craftsman mini plier set that is real nice though. I'm also going to be buying gearwrenches, both stubby flexhead and XL locking flexhead. I have a 6 point wrench set already. I have all my air tools and everything for the most part. Any ideas on where to spend my money? I'd appreciate any input man! Thanks for the suggestions on the ToolBox thing too. I'm not even going to buy one until I find out what shop I'm going to be working in since some have them built right in. Oh, pst if you want 50% off of some tools... I can't help you. ;)

Holy Cow! That Snap-On stuff is expensive! I'd go with something cheaper so that your money (credits) go farther Joe.

Now learn how to weld on Mustafflers so the underside of Nick's car wont look so bad. :laugh_ti:

Just kidding Nick.:)

Worth it when you use it every day - I forgot about the impact stuff man - I don't use it.... kind of frowned upon around planes. It is a cool idea to wait and see what you absolutely need to have... I learned from a friend of mine that if you have to continuously borrow someone elses stuff, it is a good idea to get your own. There are a lot of places on e bay that sell new s k stuff. s k imho is pretty good. I have a set of mac wrenches that i regret buying - the chrome is just flaking off. When the chrome wears off of snap on stuf, it just wares... not flakes. I know the stuff is expensive but you can also look at it this way - you are using it for a living and mostly it is a one time purchase since the stuff is guaranteed.

Tom's right, get through school first then worry about the other stuff.

Are you guys doing anything tonight? I should have asked last night - i suppose the drags were a possibility.

I always figured that one of the things you're buying with the extra money for Snap-On is support and regular visits from the truck. If you're not in a place where you get the support and visits from the truck (e.g., my garage), then the extra $$ is much harder to justify, IMHO.

Apparently many F1 mechanics look forward to the US Gran Prix because that's when they stock up on and exchange their Craftsman tools. That made me feel better. ;)

Well I get the voucher for $1000 only for snap-on. I have heard though, that if I spend retail of $3,000 in Matco tools (1500 my cost) that they'll accept the snapon voucher. I don't think it'll be worth the hastle though when I can just get Snap On. All the major 3 brands are expensive: Mac, Matco, Snap On. They do all stop by the shop on a regular basis though, so that is good.

I was going to go to Speedworld with The Other Woman to do some shake down runs before I loaded her up for the trip, but Rob isn't finished with the tuning yet. Might be taking her out to the desert wash, that is on the way to Bartlett Lake, on Tuesday.

Will do. Rob will probably take his 5 liter, 32 valve super charged buggy also, just so that we can pull each other back to the trailers in case anything happens to either of us.

5 liter 32 valve? What kind of motor is that out of? Or is it a bored and stroked 4.6? Sounds exciting though! You'll smoke him either way... lol
