My problem is when taking off, or letting off the gas, (in a 2500+ Rev), I can feel a creaking in the floor. IT also happens when I move the steering wheel side to side.. I have AL SFBs as well, which are torqued where they should be. This is a very weird noise, but SOMETHING is moving under there, When I put my hand on the subframe I can tell it is something central to the drivers side, I believe iv narrowed it down to the steering rack. The rack itself works great, and seems tight, but something is making the noise/creak in the floor. Also, the motormounts are good Shoshop reinforced ones.. Just so there is some backround, the front LCA/s, strut rods, etc.. were all just done in TPR, which I thought would take care of the noise, however it didnt. Any thoughts? I'm going crazy over here! :frown:

They are shot, but being that they swivel, that wouldnt creak through the floor while driving, and on and off the throttle, would it?

'Creaking' noise underneathe

I really think that your problem is a bushing issue. Try to replace your old bushings - the 'creaking' might eventually disappear. :salute:

As I said, all the bushings are new up front... like done this past week! I thought it woudl take care of the creaking, and it didnt... Maybe the swaybar bushings? IT really felt like one of the AL SFBs was moving... I can even get the creak when the car is off, and i had someone else do it while i was under there. I was holding the swaybar tight, and it was not in the bar at all.. It is SOMETHING connected to the subframe, central to the firewall/front drivers wheel...

Well, I woll check them, but they are AL SFBs, and they seem to be torqued correctly. this is driving me nuts!

my 91 has a similar creaking and I am hoping to figure it out in a few weeks after I replace lots of stuff...I narrowed it to tranny mount, or rear motor mount, or tranny itself...

Tranny itself? HRm well my mounts are SHOSHOP reinforced ones, except for the trans.... Mine I can actually feel in the floor.. Seemed like it could be the cradle moving around, because it does it when sitting still and turning the wheel, etc....

I checked my cradle and it is fine. I know the tranny mount is shot but my front motor mount is solid and I have a solid rear to go in when I swap trannies. I really can feel mine through the floorboard. It is so bad I have not driven it for a week.

I need an expert to ride in this thing, and hear it. its going to drive me nuts by the end of the summer, I just know it! heck, by late spring, I'l be crazy! :madflame: I also have a clunk in the rear, after doing all new strut mounts, etc.. im thinking that might be swaybar bushings, or the swaylinks AGAIN... :(

its the asfb they can move even when hit with a full impact blast . i am going to put more shims in mine to try to pull the unibody down concave like into the bushing to solve this .

my atx does that also.....lower control arms are the culprit....try hanging out the window to see the front wheel while hitting the brake when moving a bit, only has to be 1 mph to see the wheel move forward or rearward in the wheel well when the brake is applied. tried everything I could think of until doing this.

not going to weaken it any more than thousands of miles of it moving around
Well, I dont know for sure that is whats moving around..IN fact when I have someone move the wheel back and forth, and get the creaking, I put my hand on the bushings, and it isnt those. although I can feel it when touching the bushings.. (its something mounted to the subframe).
Oh, and BOBC, the LCAs are brand new, both less than 1K old, one less than 100 miles old right now..

Did you grease the balljoints? Try greasing them again. What about the tie rods?

Also, check for a torn motor mount in both the front and the rear.

Check the springs and struts while you're at it.

If all that checks ok, take the wheels off and inspect the wheel bearings.

NEw LCAs, including balljoints, tie rods no, but this is a heavy sort of noise in the front end, i can feel it in the floor. The mounts were put in last year and were new shoshop reinf ones at the time. Springs and struts were just out, and reinstalled when the konis were put on.. Wheel bearings are also new, when I did the 96 upgrade approx 8K ago.. :madflame:

Just because the parts are new does not mean they do no require inspection. Did you grease them?

As for the mounts, check them anyway, despite who made them and when they were installed.

Is the creaking on accel, deccel, coast, or heavy braking? How about WOT and then sudden off throttle?

It is on take off, decell, heavy throttle/let off, and also while driving turning side to side, i can feel it in the floor. Even sitting still side to side I can hear it/feel it. It really seems to come back to a Subframe bushing, but I was under there while my brother turned the wheel, it didnt feel like the bushing was moving. :madflame:
