crazy tranny problems

alright, i know first responses are the tranny is going out and i figure that much. But, recently my ATX has been doing some really hard downshifts, enough to actually throw you forward with some velocity. it only does it when the car is warmed up to middle of the temp gauge. and when it does, then it becomes very hard to steer around turns, almost like i have no power steering. i dont know wabout the cruise being bad or not, cause i had to disconnect it when it just shorted out a month ago or so (smoking coming from clip around airbox)....
what do i need to look for?
the VSS has been replaced once before, about 8k ago i think, might be out again

I had a similar problem awhile back.....In the drivers fenderwell in the front is a plug for daytime driving lights(Mandatory in Canada)no module just a plug with a shorting clip installed...it was full of water...check it out....
