ok i have a confusing problem. i just got home from iraq last month so i am trying to get my car all fixed up and inspected before i go back to work. so today i decided to see why the interior lights and door locks dont work. well what i found out confuses me. they woek perfect as long as i have the drivers door plus any other door open at the same time. thats the only time. that is also the only time my number pad on the door works as well any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Broken wire(s) in the harness between drivers door and body (only making contact while the door is open). And maybe a faulty "door open" switch (for lack of a better term) for drivers door.

oh and the door switch for the drivers and passenger door switches are both sensing open and closed i tested pushing them in while both doors open and watching lights go out and locks stop working either switch will shut them all down. thanks so much

I had a similar problem. The passenger window would only go down with the drivers door open. It was one broken wire. Your situation is a little different and more difficult to track down since you need more than one door open, but I'd still bet on one or more broken wires in that harness.

There is a round connector in the door jamb - my broken wire was right next to the connector on the body side. Right where the wires flex when opening/closing the door. Good luck!

ok new update on this same problem. the interior lights will come on with any door besides the drivers door. i can open the drivers door all day and will not activate the interior lights. the other part is the door locks will not work unless one of the other three doors are open. i have the drivers door apart right now and cant see any broken wires or anything like that. thanks for all your help this problem is really getting frustrating.

Don't let your lack of progress throw you off, it has to be in the door or at that flex point or at that push switch the door moves when it closes.
You may need one of those "stabber" circuit testers with a light to help out.
If nothing else, you may have to disconnect the battery and do a continuity test of the wires going through the flex.
If it makes you feel better...... I have seen a brand new car disassembled due to a broken wire in this area. It caused the anti theft system to believe the car was being broken into..... so it would not start... or anything else.
