I just went out to change my oil and I was pretty sure it was a 14mm socket for the drain plug. I used a 6-point socket and it was really really hard as I'm trying to get it loose. Finally it turned but it didn't turn to loosen it just stripped the bolt a bit. I guess I'll head to the dealership to get a new plug really quick but how do I get this ******* out now??? BWT the engine was warm when I started to do this. Becasue of the heat could it have softened the brass plug enough to strip?? I've never had this problem before and have always changed my own oil.

You can try a file to take the edges down.File each flat till you get it smooth enough to get a socket on thumb

I have an easy out set that I might try. CanI get the drain plug at the local dealer?

Once you get the old plug out, no matter how messed up the head is, the threads are usually fine. Have a welder weld a 3/4" nut onto the head of yours and you're set forever.

If you engine oil is getting hot enough to soften the drain plug, you have much bigger problems...

Get the dremel out and do the best you can to make something fit. I have stripped LOTS of bolts and nuts while working on this car. The dremel seems to save the day every time.

You can get the drain plug at an autozone or any auto parts place for that matter. I'd personally just vice grip the ****** and replace the plug after you get it out.

I second the vise grips and Autozone plug. Be sure to get a washer too.

Well, I used my "easy-out set" that I got from my brother-in-law for Christmas. I must say that I highly suggest everyone to have a set in their tool boxes. Picked out a size that about fit the bolt, found a socket to fit the end of the easy out and voila! It really was easy. Paid a whopping 1.81 at the local Autozone for the drain plug. Not such a big deal at all.
