Well I complete my lower 60k this morning, everything went really good, the SHO fired up first try and ran great all day. beer

The thing is, I made a mistake when I torqued the crank bolt, and I torqued it to 150 ft/lbs! I just remembered tonight it was only 125!!! headbang

Should I crack it off and retorque it to the right spec? Or will it be ok?

Somone please do this: slap

As said before, as long as you didn't strip it, I would leave it alone. With 150 lb-ft you can rest assured that it shouldn't loosen up on its own.

Thanks scott, i was hoping you'd respond to this post. Well I sure didn't strip it, so I guess I'll just leave it there. :)

By the way, what happens if it did come loose?

hmm let's see.

What will hapen if the harmonic balancer came off at 60MPH?
I would probably think that balancer would probably shoot through the hood and break a lot of accessories on the way out.

It suprises me that the harmonic balancer acually would come off, but hey, it's amazing what cars will do sometimes... shrug

You become a victim of crank cancer. The woodruff key gets eaten away by play in the pulley and sprocket on the crankshaft from the loose bolt. Sooner or later, the timing between the crank and the cams becomes out of whack and your car sounds like a diesel. If you've got stage II cams your valves may very well be toasted. The keys are difficult to come by, but not impossible. You can also damage your crankshaft, which I'm guessing is more difficult than rod bearings to replace. Summing things up.... shoboom!

Gotcha. Well I don't think I'll be having that problem.

Speaking of it sounding like a diesel, my '92 SLO sounds like diesel when it's going up a hill and the RPMs are low... timing off maybe? headbang Stupid SLOs

Nope, 3.0 I wouldn't have bought it if it was the 3.8 throwup

Thanks Rock, but was I nervous when I turned the key, well no I was acually pretty confident, I really took my time and got it right.

Acually, I put in my AL SFB at the same time, boy are they nice! I think I need new ball joints or something though, it still seems a little loose. shrug
