I'm in the process of doing front side 60k. Got everything off no problems till I came to the crank shaft bolt. The bolt is in there something fierce. Tried a starter bump and broke three rachets. Next called a friend over with a 250 impact gun no dice and yes I did make sure we were going the right way. Next we tried a 650 air impact and nothing either. Eventually when we got the 3/4 impact gun out the bolt stripped:cry: The next thing we tried was to weld a bolt on to the crankshaft but the welds all broke and we are still left with a stripped out out bolt still as tight as ever on there. The next thing I am going to try is to grind the edges of the bolt down to get a better bite has anyone climbed this everest of a problem before and lived to tell about it:bonk:

I've used a couple of approaches that worked, but with the hex stripped...

1) Use an air chisel to knock it counter-clockwise.
2) Cut most of the ****** off with a cutoff wheel. It's the ****** that's holding it in.
3) drill holes in the ****** (careful not to go too deep).

A craftsman "bolt out" worked well on my stripped crank bolt.

And use a breaker bar, not a ratchet, when you do the starter-bump method.
