So I was changing out the crank sensor and as I was loosening the bolt, the head of the bolt broke off... which apparently is a common problem. I have been driving around for a few days with NO bolt... the o ring seems to hold the sensor in pretty tight.
I am planning on getting a bracket made that will secure the sensor, by attaching the bracket to a nearby bolt.
Question: I noticed that the sensor is VERY exposed to the elements. With the front tire turned, I can clearly see the sensor. I assume this is why the bolt is prone to snap in two. Seeing how it is so exposed to rain, snow and debris, am I risking getting water in the engine by not bolting the sensor down?
What other options do I have?

if you wanted to you could use some RTV silacone around the sensor, it would be a temp fix! at least you would know its sealed...
