Trying to replace my crank sensor, and I couldn't get the crank shaft bolt that holds the pully off. I tried everything and now it's round. So I just started drilling. Can anyone tell me how long this bolt is.

This is on a 94 ATX

Ewww, you are drilling? That's gonna suck.

From my recollection it is about 3 - 4in

But then again, I am male, so it might be 8 - 12

You don't have to drill it, you might damage the threads of the crank that way. Grind the head of the bolt off and then use a puller.

I don't understand what you mean by a puller. You mean take the head off and use an "easy out"? If it's only 2 inches I'm almost there. And, yeah I've done this before so I know from past experience to drill straight and not into the treads. Don't ask.

Thanks guys I'll let you know how it goes. I'm told that the crank sensor helps vary the timimg while driving the car. I can only guess I'll notice a smoother running car?

When you drill the bolt, you still have to insert an "easy-out" and twist the bolt out (you don't need to drill all the way through the bolt, right? ). You have to apply the same amount of force still, just to a different tool. With the head ground off, the part that was actually frozen, the interface between the back side of the head and the face of the harmonic balancer pulley, is no longer there. After grinding, insert the puller, which you will have to do no matter which method you use, and use it to slide the pulley off the shaft.

Sounds like you're almost done drilling so....nevermind.
