This crack has been around for awhile, i dont ride in the passenger seat, if i did, it would probably ****** me off long ago.

PIC:

The rest of the dash is in great shape, no funny sun bends, no cracks, just this really bad obnoxious one by the passenger door. Ive read about how bad it sucks to pull the dash to replace the heater core.

Has anyone ever had this problem? Anyone think of a fix? Thanks guys.

Mine looks exactly the same. In my case it's from my brother jumping into the car, because he thought I was gonna take off without him. Jumped a little too forward and his knee met the dash. I haven't tried fixing it though.

Honestly the dash in a 2nd gen is not that bad since the wiring harness unplugs from the firewall. Remove some screws up top, one on each A pillar, a few brackets here and there, remove the front seats, steering column and center console and lift it out. It's not a quick job but if you just take your time it's not that bad.

unfortunatly, the wiring harness does not unplug from the firewall, that would be too easy but the Gen2's do make it a little easier to get the harness through the firewall, as there is only 2 connectors to pull through, one large one and one small one.

Takes about an hour and a half, with a helper (dash is heavy) to throw it out in the driveway.

iv owned 3 shos, every one has been cracked in that spot, one of them had a repair, probably some vinyl puddy or something but it looked horrible. Iv been thinking what to do with mine because it bothers me too. My dash is crackign in the center too so I might just keep an eye out for a nice dash to swap in and change the heater core while im at it.

The airbags can do a number on your dash as well, so don't hit anything. ;)

Seriously though, my passenger airbag put a nice big crack in the dash to complement the other existing ones.

mine is just like it and i've been wondering about finding a crap dash (one cracked in the middle or something) that is good on that corner and maybe trying to cut and paste it. i've seen some decent small crack repairs with that vinyl repair crap and i think if one took his or her time it might turn out okay. at least it might be a temp fix until it was time to pull the dash and swap out the heater core.
